Celebrating Disability Culture

Celebrating the disability culture is the focus of the upcoming Picture this film festival, but for now event coordinators are seeking volunteers to help work at the festival.

On Aug. 20, festival director Vern Reynolds?Braun is hoping some "general all?around good people" will find their way to Fort Calgary to volunteer.

"The push right now is our call for volunteers;" said Reynolds-Braun, explaining there is a need for ushers, hosts and popcorn makers, for example. "We basically would love people to show up next Monday.

" The festival, which runs Oct. 19-21, exhibits works either created by disabled individuals or featuring the disabled.

"It is a festival that has a focus on subject matter," said Reynolds-Braun. "We believe it's the first and only of its kind in Canada."

Potential volunteers are welcome to enjoy a preview screening and meet the festival team before committing to the event.
