Our jury have selected the following entries for Awards or Honourable Mentions for PTF 2007:

Congratulations not only to all those Award winners and Honourable Mentions, but to all those who submitted their work to our festival. All entries will be viewable in our library during the festival February 12 - 16, 2007.

"Best of festival!...great combination of stylised movement...great pace and sense of humour...artistic form throughout...works extremely well with the humour and the movement...love the mix of art and everyday life...very inspiring...amazing...I loved this film!"

Under 10 minutes: Award - Pinch (833-PTF-2007)

Jury Comments:

"Well done!...great animation...I liked the little monster...engaging, humourous and thought-provoking...funny, original, the monster was endearing...no dialogue, but the message was clear...loved the pathos and warmth of the story...got their point across personifying chronic conditions in a humourous way...I'd give it a five-star award!

10 to 30 minutes: Award - Escape Velocity (802-PTF-2007)

Jury Comments:

"Creative explanation of ADD; you can see what is going on in their brain...funny, interesting, upbeat...the voice of the disabled person...used a good approach...excellent use of imagination...I could relate to him...good music...I liked it!"

Documentary

10 to 30 minutes: Award - The Greatest Show on Earth (875-PTF-2007)

Jury Comments:

"Inspiring to see such a young woman achieving her goals...shows dedication, commitment and focus...very colourful...nice dancing, great costumes and great music...lively and energetic...it's cool to see someone with a disability so passionate about her art...creative and fast paced...beautiful costumes, energy and grabs the viewer from the onset...showed there are no limits on achieving dreams with hard work and determination!"

10 to 30 minutes: Honourable mention - Disarmed and Dangerous (867-PTF-2007)

Jury Comments:

"A very engaging film...very honest and couragous...addressed issues beyond body image...speaks of beauty, consumption and the relationships between disabled people...cool they overcame their fears about disability and that they are okay about looking different.

Over 30 minutes: Award - This Beggar's Description (844-PTF-2007)

Jury Comments:

"A very authentic story told in a beautiful, engaging way...interesting philosophy and discussion about society...beautiful cinematography...a different look at mental illness...personal story through prose and poetry...great visual imagery...I want to know more about his story...important work in the field of mental illness...loved the music!"

Over 30 minutes: Honourable mention - Invitation to the Dance (840-PTF-2007)

Jury Comments:

"Extremely well directed...fascinating, especially the chorography...great opening sequence; shows both barriers and possibilities...fascinating project...showed the possibilities...energising, creative and absorbing...very powerful...the political and the personal; the dance and disability...inspiring, educational and entertaining...passionate!"

Over 30 minutes: Honourable mention - Darius Goes West (889-PTF-2007)

Jury Comments:

"Great concept, set up and opening...engaging storyline...positive and interesting...great flow and very interesting...funny...great rap music...inspirational, educational and delightful...neat to see a film about youth and how they get through a life with disabilities...natural humour...really enjoyed it!"

Over 30 minutes: Honourable mention - 39 Pounds of Love (804-PTF-2007)

Jury Comments:

"Marvelous...great sense of humour...caputures you from the beginning...love his creativity...solid dramatic devices...creative use of breaking the timeline to tell the story...very engaging...great story...heartwarming and honest...great family conflict...very dramatic...lots of drama in the first few minutes...excellent!"

Drama

Under 10 minutes: Honourable mention - Hidden (822-PTF-2007)

Jury Comments:

"Very gripping...interesting use of images, some disturbing...overcoming restrictions and limitations and coming out of darkness and finding light in the end...very artistic and very disturbing...well done but disturbing subject...creative, gripping approach...loved this film!"

10-30 minutes: Award - Raspberry Ripple (877-PTF-2007)

Jury Comments:

"Very entertaining and informative...cuts to the chase...very funny...great characters...well shot and well cut...good pace...good drama, engaging, fun...interesting and energetic...great actors, especially the older guy...creative and engaging!"

10-30 minutes: Honourable mention - Twitch (857-PTF-2007)

Jury Comments:

"Good, sensitive exploration of the relationship between teenaged girl and disabled mother...engaging film, interesting characters...intriguing...well shot and well cut...liked the acting...two viewpoints come alive...highlights fear of disability as contagious...an honest piece."

Under 10 minutes: Honourable mention - I Can Do It Just You See (890-PTF-2007)

Jury Comments:

"Entertaining...great smiles...good for people to see that people with disabilities can make great parents with the right support...good use of pretend food...mom and son working together to show that, with support, they are making it!"

10-30 minutes: Award - Experiencing Autism (841-PTF-2007)

Jury Comments:

"Good if someone does not know about Autism...good examples...does not use difficult medical terms...informative...great for training...engaging and informative...clear voice and easy-to-understand message...delightful to watch!"

10-30 minutes: Honourable mention - Why Do They Gotta Do Me Like That? (870-PTF-2007)

Jury Comments:

"Good hip-hop music...cool people with disabilities are advocating for themselves and educating about bullying... great modern music geared toward youth...presents great questions...good message...entertaining."

Over 30 minutes: Award - On The Spectrum (851-PTF-2007)

Jury Comments:

"Draws me in, very interesting...I really like real people telling their own stories in their own words...funny and real...easy to understand...shows disability from the disabled person's perspective...easy to watch."
