She has a strong commitment to the disability community, and the rights of individuals with disabilities to have their own voice, make their own choices and take control over their own lives.  This commitment has been expressed through her involvement with various committee and Board work that focus on a variety of topics, everything from the arts to advocacy and awareness issues. Her interests include travel and reading, and with the newfound freedom of not having to do homework anymore, she is quickly becoming addicted to scrap booking.  She is looking forward to having the opportunity to be a part of an uplifting, empowering and entertaining film festival for another year.

A strong supporter of the arts, Hazel appreciates the power of the film medium in its potential to influence the beliefs, values and actions of the viewing public, and hence the responsibility of film makers and the public to view with the ‘critical eye’, the portrayal of those marginalized in society.
