For hearing-impaired youth who have spent most of their years misunderstood and even ostracized, Moscow's Theatre School for the Deaf is a haven. Here, they are able to communicate using the colourful and intricate language of gesture. "This gesture performance", according to one Professor, "is a very image-rich language. It involves a selection, a search for new gestures to convey ideas and words." The inspired youth detail their fears, hopes and dreams upon discovering a new sense of themselves through the theatre. |
